Redemption

With the dawn of 2024, we have an opportunity to reflect on our present circumstances and potentially choose some new directions for our lives. Maybe it’s more of taking a new perspective on who we are and what we want to accomplish with the days we are given. As for me, I have been reflecting on “redemption”.

Over the past few weeks, we all probably received some kind of gift card. They all essentially have the same size and shape. However, we may not know their worth unless someone tells us how much is on it, or until we go and redeem it at the given establishment. It’s always fun to take a card of unknown value and discover it has a nice amount on it.

In many ways, this describes us as human beings. The important difference is that we each have infinite value. Unfortunately, we often convince ourselves that we aren’t worth anything. Even worse, we sometimes send the message to others that they are worthless as well. One thing I have been working on is reaffirming regularly to myself that I am enough, I have value, and I am worthy of love, just as I am. And so are you!

With the new year, let’s remind ourselves and each other that we are priceless. Let’s open our hearts to the reality that we are redeemable and bring great value to the world around us. Just like the value of a gift card may not be immediately known, we too may not always see our worth. Let’s embrace that we each have so much to offer and live in that affirmation.
