Inner Child
Winter came knocking and I opened the door,
And remembered what I had forgotten before.
That deep within me still lives an adventurous child,
With eyes full of wonder and a heart still as wild.
The snow-covered hills called out my name,
Even though my body is not the same.
Yet I braved the slick slopes as I once did,
And relived the sheer joy I felt as a kid.
I returned to a warm home with barely a bump,
And a joyful memory of feeling my heart jump.
Some may call it childish, such a risk to take,
But to forget the young boy is a bigger mistake.
