Emily
Em over the years
I started back in May writing a post about each of my three kids during their birthday week. This week is Emily’s. For me, Em is a source of inspiration on personal growth. From childhood to now, she has continually worked to become her true self. When Em came into the world, we knew she would be a world changer. I vividly remember her little cherub face as she moved back and forth in the wind-up swing in our living room. To hear her little giggle was a beautiful sound.
Along with her Gerber Baby cuteness, Em was a force to be reckoned with. While her strong will had its moments, it proved to be a driving force for her in everything she did. She was always one of the top students in her class, graduating as valedictorian as a prime example. She excelled in every sport she pursued: cross country, track, and, particularly, soccer. Watching her play was a true delight. When she made her signature move taking the ball from the outer line, streaking toward the goal, and shooting from the corner of the box, all our hearts would skip a beat. Along with her moves on the pitch, she was also famous for leg cramps, pickle juice, broken wrists, and ponytails.
As an adult, Em has proven again and again that her pursuit of excellence pays huge dividends. As a senior inventory analyst for Tractor Supply Co., she has become an invaluable asset for the company in just a few short years. Her analytical mind and attention to detail set her up to be a role model for her coworkers.
What inspires me most, though, is Em’s introspection and growth in emotional intelligence. Her compassion for others has blossomed as she has moved into adulthood. She has developed a mature perspective on her life and desires to become a better human being continually. No matter what she accomplishes, she strives to reach new heights and to make a difference in whatever she does. Along with her amazing husband, Jason, she is building a life full of purpose and adventure. She serves as an exemplar for each of us as someone who seeks to continually find herself, accept herself, and give herself away.
